fall break!

....has begun! ^_^

i've been terrible about keeping this blog updated for a while now.
BUT, i've been keeping a separate journal so my misadventures don't go unwritten :)

sometime this week, i think i'll post a video blog ~ since i can talk a lot faster than i can type (which i'm sure you all know what i'm talking about...lol)

i'm doing extremely well now. it just took me forever to figure out that there's nothing i can do about the way the japanese go about things sometimes. most of the time, it's practical. and when it's not, i just want to scream in frustration.

...but i can't. because it's not middlebury. and i can't do random "crazy" things like that.

(the closest my friends and i have gotten to screaming "randomly" is when we saw the election results come in on the computers in the akp lounge. we went out, bought drinks, and raised a toast to obama in the middle of the street ^_^)

oh midd... how i miss you <3

  1. I know what you mean! It can be shocking sometimes how a different culture operates on a daily basis, and really frustrating when it doesn't seem to make any sense. (Frankly, I don't know how Italy has remained functioning as a "1st-world" country this long!)

And yeah... I have a feeling that screaming in public would really freak the Japanese out. Not even to mention their reaction if they found out you were screaming about them. Even with how lax the Italians are, I don't think I could do something like that here. The Italian students, maybe, but not being able to discern where the borders of behavior for something like that are prevents me from doing anything too silly. Which is unfortunate, because being silly or really able to get out your emotions can make life so much more satisfying/fun/healthy.

I hope things are going alright for you over there and look forward to seeing your video post when you get around to it!
